On July 30, Amazon Web Services announced the AWS Community Builders program, bringing an end to the “private beta” which has been running for the past few months. AWS community leaders invited over 250 passionate AWS users to participate in this “private beta” leading up to the launch. It was an amazing opportunity for everyone invited as we shared ideas, heard presentations on various topics from AWS leaders, including Jeff Barr.
What is an AWS Community Builder?
Community Builders are individuals who are passionate about using AWS and share what they have learned through blog posts, online articles like this one, teaching others, and more. The idea is the community builder shares their experience to help others either not make the same mistakes, or look at a problem differently and consider other solutions.
The program provides access to AWS technical and program leaders, mentorship opportunities, and presentations on various AWS services. The entire program membership, including the AWS subject matter experts, participate in a private Slack workspace, which is divided into various topic areas. Community Builders can choose to focus on one or a few areas, or actively engage in all the topics.
Everyone participating in the program is provided with AWS promotional credits to aid in the experimentation process.
Are you interested? Do you like to share what you have learned with others? The program is open to anyone and involves completing an application and submitting it for review. Applications are reviewed twice a year and those selected are in for a one year term, although they can re-apply.
Applications are being accepted now through September 15, 2020. Don’t wait to apply!
My Experience thus Far …
I was thrilled to have been invited to participate in the “private beta” of this program. I have had the opportunity to interact with a lot of interesting people from many different industries and in a truly global context. The presentations we have seen thus far have been interesting, and the discussions have created possible topics for me to write about in the future.
Proud to be an AWS Community Builder!
